Born and raised in Yantai in 1963, Shandong Province, Yu   Wenjiang has emerged as the leading contemporary artist in the claborate-style painting.As a renowned artist, Yu Wenjiang is serving as the Deputy Director of China National Academy of Painting, Honorary Dean of Ningxia Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, Member of Country’s Major Themes Art Creation committee of China Artists Association, Vice Dean of Modern Claborate-style Painting Academy under the Ministry of Culture, Vice Dean of China Ink Painting, Vice Dean of Research Institute of Traditional Chinese Painting under Qi Gong Academy of Beijing Normal University. He is also certificate holder of State Top Class Artist, Outstanding Expert nominated by Ministry of Culture, Research Fellow at Central Research Institute of Culture and History, Research Fellow at the Chinese National Academy of Arts, member of China Artists Association, Supervisor of Faculty of Humanities and Arts at Macau University of Science and Technology， member of Jurade De Saint-Émilion of France, and Director of YWJ Studio.

Many of Yu Wenjiang’s works have been selected for the past seven National Arts Exhibition, including Little pals,Seaside Nap , Thousand handed Bodhisattva,  Twilight Dew, Greenish Pastoral， Village Creek, Wind Recital, and Matins， Notable award-winning work include Twilight of Fall  1st Prize, China Contemporary Gongbi Painting Competition;  Autumn of Mont Meng, Silver Prize, National Arts Exhibition for the 50th Anniversary of Mao Zedong’s Yan’an Speech; Red Jujube， Gold Prize, China Gongbi Painting Competition;  Homeland, Bronze Prize, 1st National Chinese Painting Competitions. In addition,  Lake Jing was included as part of the Centennial Chinese Painting Exhibition;  Song of Cicada and Village Creek were selected by the 1st and 2nd National Painting Academies Biennial Exhibition;  Return Home was selected by the 6th Beijing International Painting Biennial Exhibition; Golden Highland Barley was selected by National Art Museum of China Carrying Forward National Spirit Exhibition;  Propitious Highland was invited by the 2nd Chinese Painting Society Exhibition; Golden Highland Barley , Propitious Highland and Flying Heart  were selected by 2015、2016 and 2017 Freehand Brushwork in China Exhibition Tour respectively，Weaver Girl Of India was exhibited in Hhe 6th National Academy Exhibition, His traditional Chinese paintings were exhibited in the 8th、 9th, 10th, 11th  and 12th national art exhibitions. Yu Wenjiang has been nominated Top 100 Chinese Painters by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Artists Association of China.

His works were displayed in the domestic major exhibitions and won prizes many times, and were showed in other countries and areas, such as France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, the United States, Mexico, Morocco，Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and so on.

In 2009, he completed the depiction of Chinese women in the War of Resistance Against Japan, Agony, was selected by the National Major Historical Theme ArtworksExhibition, and is part of the permanent collection at the China National Art Museum.

In 2020, his Migration of Kazakh – Pasture in Springtime was exhibited in The Belt and Road-themed International Art Project Exhibition and is collected by the nation.
